Based on the Ben and Jerry’s recipe for Toffee Bar Crunch. You’ll need a countertop ice cream maker for this. Makes 1 generous quart.

Ingredients

2 eggs

3/4 cups sugar

2 cups heavy cream

1 cup whole milk

2.5 oz dark chocolate

2.5 oz toffee bits

Instructions

  1. Whisk the eggs for a couple of minutes until foamy. Whisk in the sugar, about 1/4 cup at a time. Add the milk and heavy cream, then stir until combined.
  2. Add the mixture to your ice cream maker. (Remember to freeze the bowl in the freezer for 24 hours first!)
  3. Set a timer for 20 minutes.
  4. While the timer is going, chop up your dark chocolate pieces and toffee bits until they are very small. You can use a food processor, but a knife and cutting board combo works fine.
  5. When your ice cream is almost ready, pour in the chocolate and toffee. Wait about a minute for everything to mix together.
  6. You can enjoy your ice cream a bit soft, or you can put it in the freezer to finish hardening. Be sure to cover with Saran wrap, which should touch the whole exposed surface of the ice cream to prevent freezer burn.
